Golden Star Inc. chooses Thomaston, Georgia it newest manufacturing facility
The Thomaston-Upson Industrial Development Authority (IDA) is pleased to announce the sale of the speculative building located in the Central Georgia Business and Technology Park. Golden Star, Inc. plans to invest $5 million and create 30 jobs in 2018. The company manufactures industrial cleaning supplies such as wet mops, dust mops and textile cleaning systems. The 109 year old company has a corporate headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas and manufacturing facilities in Kansas and Nevada, as well as two dedicated supply chain partners in China and a manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
According to Earl Julo, President/CEO of Golden Star, the Thomaston facility will enable the company to serve the southeast and east coast customers in a more efficient and productive manner while at the same time provide a stronger footprint in the region. The proximity to the Port of Savannah and the strong textile employee base factored into the decision to locate their newest facility in Thomaston.
Kyle Fletcher, Thomaston-Upson IDA Executive Director said, “Golden Star will be an excellent addition to our community and our workforce is a good fit for the company.” Fletcher added that the IDA has more land and buildings available for prospective industries and she hopes the momentum of the recent announcement will continue.
