This month, ECG’s Office of Economic & Community Development has assembled available opportunities in grants and funding relevant to your needs. We highlight the ReConnect Loan and Grant Program offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the AARP Community Challenge . ReConnect Loan and Grant Program

Grantor: USDA Rural Development
Type: Grant, Loan, or 50% Grant/50% Loan The ReConnect Program offers federal loans, grants, and combinations thereof to facilitate broadband deployment in rural areas. ReConnect loans and grants provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service to rural areas without sufficient broadband access. The program will make available $350 million for grants (25 percent match required); $250 million for 50/50 grant-loans; $200 million for loans; and $350 million for new 100 percent grants (no match required) for Tribal and socially vulnerable communities.

AARP Community Challenge
Deadline: 3/22/22
Type: Grant
The AARP Community Challenge provides small grants to fund quick-action projects that can help communities become more livable for people of all ages. This year, applications will be accepted for projects to improve public spaces, housing, transportation and civic engagement; support diversity, equity and inclusion; build engagement for programs under new federal laws; and pursue innovative ideas that support people age 50 or older.
