Monica Scott, Sr. Research Analyst for ECG’s Office of Economic and Community Development, has received the designation of Certified Economic Research Professional (CERP) from the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER). 

This designation is presented to an individual who has proven how their research benefits their customers and C2ER’s membership. In addition, this designation signals expertise and continued engagement, leadership, and practice in applied economic and workforce research.

“Monica has worked diligently on this designation process over the last couple of years, compiling projects and knowledge for submittal,” said ECG’s Director of External Affairs, Michelle Holbrook. “She continues to provide tremendous benefit as part of our Economic & Community Development team, our statewide partners, and, most importantly, our member communities.”

C2ER commended Monica on her submitted application, projects, and final presentation, stating that Monica demonstrated a well-rounded understanding of economic and workforce research, strong communication skills, and is a leader in this field.

Monica’s comprehensive research presentation on the “Cost of Living and Rising Inflation: The Impact on Georgia Workers” helped earn her this auspicious designation. It looked at the effects of rising inflation on Georgians and compared the rural and urban cost of living for Georgians.

C2ER commended Monica on her webinar presentation, stating that it demonstrated:

• An in-depth understanding of C2ER products and their application to support stakeholders’ efforts through research.
• Skill in pointing out future research ideas and connecting those ideas to what other colleagues and practitioners might need to know to conduct their own research.
• Clarity in the pros and cons of various data availability and limitations to perform this type of research.

Monica’s role at ECG focuses on using data to uncover economic and community development opportunities. She has completed various projects, including economic and fiscal impact analyses, real estate market research, industry and supply chain reports, industry overviews, labor market studies, company intelligence reports, and general market studies.

Monica’s background in academic research and statistics include experience with predictive and descriptive analytics, survey and focus group design, data visualization, and data-driven decision analysis. Her expertise has had Monica lend her voice as a subject matter expert at C2ER’s 2020 Virtual Conference, speaking on Utilizing Peer Communities Tool to Enhance Economic Planning.
