Variety Wholesalers, Inc. to create 320 jobs in Newnan, GA
August 29, 2016 – Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Variety Wholesalers, Inc., a retail store chain, will establish its second major distribution center in Coweta County, creating 320 jobs and investing approximately $10.5 million in the Newnan area.
“Georgia’s business climate and transportation infrastructure continue to attract major businesses such as Variety Wholesalers to the state,” said Deal. “Variety Wholesalers’ decision to expand to Coweta County speaks to Georgia’s growing commercial infrastructure, demonstrates the significant investment opportunities offered by our ports and will further establish our state as an industrial magnet.”

In this issue, Pretoria Farms, LLC is bringing an 18,000 square foot microbrewery facility in downtown Albany, GA and along with it a great deal of excitement for a city eager to revitalize its city core. This project will put downtown Albany among a growing list of cities such as Athens, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah, who have embraced the growing trend of locating microbreweries as anchors for their downtown. “This project has the opportunity to transform our downtown; other restaurants and retail will likely follow,” explains Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

Amazon comes to Jackson County
Governor Nathan Deal today announced that Amazon will create more than 500 full-time jobs in the Braselton area. The 600,000 square-foot Amazon fulfillment center in Jackson County will be used for packing and shipping large items such as household decor, sporting equipment and gardening tools.
“Amazon’s decision to develop in Jackson County speaks to the strength and vitality of Georgia’s business-friendly environment,” said Deal. “We are thrilled that a global leader such as Amazon has chosen to expand its footprint here in Georgia. This project further bolsters Georgia’s reputation as the nation’s No. 1 state in which to do business.”
